Triamminechloroplatinum II Chloride

Triamminechloroplatinum(II) choride was first prepared by Cleve by the reaction of the c/s-dichlorodiammine complex with the calculated amount of ammonia.1 Chugaev later prepared the compound by an improved method using the cis isomer and potassium cyanate as starting materials.2 However, this method was still tedious, and the yield was low. [Pg.124]

More recently the same compound was prepared in about 40% yield by Gel fman using the tram isomer as a starting material.3 [Pg.124]

A modification of the method of Gel fman is described in this synthesis. [Pg.124]

There are three steps in the preparation of triamminechloroplatinum(ll) chloride preparation of frans-diamminechloroiodoplatinum(II), conversion to trans-diammineaquachloroplatinum(II) nitrate, and replacement of the coordinated water molecule by ammonia to give triamminechloroplatinum(II) chloride. [Pg.124]
