Trap Types

For a steam coil to operate efficiently, it must have all the latent heat in the steam. This is achieved by the use of a steam trap. The correct trap type must be selected for the particular application in order to prevent waterlogging. All condensate, air, or other noncondensable must be removed from the system without delay otherwise,... 

The wide choice of steam trap types which are available must at first seem confusing, and it is useful to first define... 

The groupings then may be described as mechanical, which will include both ball float and inverted bucket steam traps thermostatic, which will include both balanced pressure and bimetallic elements and thermodynamic or disc pattern traps (Figure 22.13). Each type of trap has its own characteristics, and these will make one pattern of trap more suitable for use on a given application than another. In practice, it is usual to find that the applications in any given plant fall into a small number of categories, and it often is possible to standardize on a quite small number of trap types.

There are many ways in which trapping can be studied, but the wide range of trap types and geometries make it difficult to determine the properties of specific trap sites. 

Land mines are placed on land or just beneath the surface, to inflict damage on either personnel or equipment. They are of the trap type, being initiated by unsuspected action of the enemy.

In 1969 V. Likholetnikov together with A.Vasserman [5,6] identified the so-called trap types in Kolkheti central and eastern parts in Bajocian, Bathanian, Neocomian-Aptian, Cenomanian, Turonian-Paleocene sediments and also natural reservoirs - in Upper Cretaceous and Paleocene sediments.
