Transfer with transition metal compound

The occurrence of this reaction has been deduced [81] from the effects of the concentration of transition metal compound on polymer molecular weight, and the mechanism is not understood. It is conceivable that the chains are transferred to transition metal atoms without vacant sites for coordination of monomer and which do not then propagate or that the chain is eliminated with deactivation but exposes a fresh transition metal atom for alkylation and subsequent propagation. [Pg.149]

The facile and reversible reaction of propagating species with transition metal halide complexes to form a polymeric halo-compound is one of the key steps in atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP, see Section 9.4). [Pg.136]

The formation of boron-group IB bonds succeeds in two ways by transfer of a boryl group from metal-boron compounds to other metals, and by reaction of anionic boranes or carboranes with transition-metal halides. [Pg.47]

This review concerns the materials made from the combination as charge transfer salts of the above-mentioned metallocenium cations with transition metal bisdithiolene anions, expanding and updating a previous review [34]. Most of the materials studied so far are decamethylmetallocenium based salts, but other compounds based on different metallocenium derivatives have also been reported and will be also referred. [Pg.101]

Nitric oxide rapidly reacts with transition metals, which have stable oxidation states differing by one electron (see Chapters 2 and 3). Nitric oxide is unusual in that it reacts with both the ferric (Fe " ) and ferrous forms (Fe " ) of iron. TTie unpaired electron of nitric oxide is partially transferred to the metal forming a principally ionic bond. Complexes of ferric iron with nitric oxide are called nitrosyl compounds and will nitrosate (add an NO group) many compounds, while reducing the iron to the ferrous state (Wade and Castro, 1990). [Pg.6]

IV Electron transfer reactions of free radicals and metal complexes, including reactions of R with M +, e.g., oxidation by Cu2+ or reduction by Cr2+ (considered to be outside our scope unless M>+ represents an organometallic compound), and reactions of RMgX with transition metal complexes m, 129... [Pg.351]
