Transesterification, methods

The main problem here is removing the phenyl ester groups from the phosphonic moiety. We have found that convenient routes for deblocking are hydrogenation on Adams catalyst and transesterification methods followed by hydrogen bromide in glacial acetic acid treatment. The best results ewre obtained if transesterification was carried out using potassium fluoride-crown ether-methanol system. [Pg.190]

In a related approach, pentafluorophenyl esters of Fmoc amino acids 61 (see Table 14) were prepared from a mixture of acid 59 and pentafluorophenyl trifluoroacetate in dimeth-ylformamide in the presence of pyridine, which is a transesterification method developed by Sakakibara (Scheme The reaction involves formation of mixed carboxylic acid... [Pg.457]

Condensation of 20 with daunorubicin (1) in DMF solution afforded 21, which was finally deprotected using the Zemplen transesterification method [60] to afford the desired prodrug 13 (Fig. 2) [55]. [Pg.163]

A modified technical transesterification method has been elaborated" " for 3-tropanyl and 3-granatanyl tropic acid esters, starting with methyl a-formyl-p-phenylacetate and tropine in toluene (66% yield) followed by reduction of the formyl group over Raney nickel. [Pg.51]

The reactions proceed with a high yield. In the case of halide derivatives evolved HCl is bound by Py and/or NH3. The transesterification methods are applicable to those cases when the substitution is conducted using an alcohol with a boiling point that is higher than that of the alcohol to be substituted. By this method mixed titanates have also been prepared (Fig. 4-2). The released alcohol can be removed from the reaction mixture either directly during the synthesis or as an azeotropic solution with solvent (most often with benzene). [Pg.102]

Polycarbonates are manufactured either by transesterification or by interfacial polycondensation. In the transesterification method, bisphenol A is transesterified in two stages with a slight excess of diphenyl carbonate ... [Pg.962]

Another recent study on polyester synthesis through thiol-ene reactions for preparation of monomers from fatty-acid derivatives was described by Pang and co-workers [16]. Authors adopted the same approach for preparing aliphatic diols and diester from 10-undecen-l-ol, methyl 10-undecenoate and thiols. In parallel, they prepared aromatic diesters from methyl vanillate and a series of thermoplastic polyesters were synthesised by polycondensation of the diols and diesters using conventional transesterification methods. These materials were obtained with Mn values of 12-27 kDa and T values of -13 to 13 °C. [Pg.113]

In comparison with dilution, microemulsion, and pyrolysis, transesterification has attracted more attention. The reason probably is the fact that pyrolysis and microemulsion are costly methods with low-quality biodiesel production compared to the transesterification method (Taher, Al-Zuhair, Al-Marzouqi, Haik, Farid, 2011), and the quality of biodiesel produced in the transesterification is better (mainly due to its lower viscosity) (Ferella et al., 2010). [Pg.292]

Suprizingly enough, hydrazine and its hydrate in diluted solutions of alcohols, dimethylformamide, and mixtures of both have not often been used to cleave the benzyl ester type linkage of peptides bound to the common Merrifield support, though this cleavage was found more effective than the transesterification method of detachment [178,179]. This effect can be explained by a more sufficient solvation of the peptide on polymer by the cleaving reagent and by the distinct nucleophilicity of hydrazine. In this way fully pro-... [Pg.67]

Substitution of up to substantially 5 sucrose hydroxyl groups (presumably the 3 primary and 2 reactive secondary groups) is achieved fairly readily by reaction of a 1 5 mole ratio of sucrose and methyl ester using the standard transesterification method. This involves the use of an aprotic solvent, and "bone-dry" potassium carbonate as catalyst at about 100°C. Synthesis of hexa/heptaesters is more difficult and it becomes necessary to use a 100% excess of methyl esters to achieve a 90% conversion of sucrose. The unreacted esters are recovered by chromatography or methanol extraction. [Pg.176]

In a study of CLA in ovine muscle, a direct transesterification method using potassium hydroxide/methanol (0.2 M, 50°C,15 min) gave superior quantitative results to direct methods using either sodium methoxide or acid catalysts (hydrochloric acid, boron trifluoride) (Murrieta, Hess, and Rule, 2003). In a study in beef, aimed at analyzing aU fatty acids, including CLA and (o3 and (o6 fatty acids, by GC, the samples were directly hydrolyzed (5 M potassium hydroxide in metha-nol/water, 1 1, v/v, 60°C, 60 min), followed by meAylation with TMS-DM (Aldai et al., 2006). [Pg.108]

In related procedures that are based on lithium enolates of Evans Af-acyl oxazohdinones, azodicarboxylates 477 are used as electrophiles [228]. Excellent diastereoselectivity and high chemical yields in the formation of hydrazines 478 are reached with Af-acyl oxazohdinones 468 (R = CHjPh) and di-t-butyl azodicarboxylate (Scheme 4.101) [228a]. For the cleavage of the chiral auxihary from the substrate, saponification (LiOH in THF/water) and transesterification methods (A4eA4gBr in methanol or LiOCH2Ph in THF) were developed and occurred without significant racemization in the esters or acids 479, except for... [Pg.234]
