The surgeon-designers have reported impressive clinical results with the Total Condylar Prosthesis, especially when compared with the outcomes from previous knee designs [28-34]. The first cohort of patients implanted with the Total Condylar knee, between March 1974 and December 1977, have been followed closely for up to 20 years [30, 31, 35, 36]. Depending upon whether evidence of radiographic loosening or clinical failure was used for the endpoint, Ranawat et al. reported a 91-94% survivorship at 15 years [36]. [Pg.90]

Within this context, the patello-femoral arthroplasty offered by the Total Condylar Knee was a far more elegant... [Pg.91]
