Toner brush, charge

Thus charge accumulates on the brush with a time constant of R(C, exhibiting the role of the effective toner resistivity in controlling the transient toner brush charging. At first blush this simple analysis appears to preclude the use of highly resistive toners in monocomponent development, however this judgement ignores the kinetic induced conductivity in the next section, the static bulk resistivity of two commercially available Hitachi toners are displayed. These toners are representative of a conductive and of a resistive type of toner used in monocomponent copiers. [Pg.252]

The solution to the first problem is, as always, to replace the toner cartridge (or EP drum if your printer uses a separate EP drum and toner). You can also solve the second problem with a new toner cartridge, but in this case that would be an extreme solution. It s easier to clean the charge corona with the brush supplied with the cartridge. [Pg.421]

The solution is to clean the corona wires. LaserJet Series II printers contain a small corona wire brush to help in this procedure. It s usually a small, green-handled brush located near the transfer corona wire. To use it, remove the toner cartridge and run the brush in the charge corona groove on top of the toner cartridge. Replace the cartridge and use the brush to brush away any foreign deposits on the transfer corona. Be sure to put it back in its holder when you re finished. [Pg.421]

Residual charge on the P/R is removed by uniform illumination. The last toner residues are neutralized by corotron driven by an alternating voltage and are removed by mechanical means such as mechanical brushes, wiper blades, disposable sheets, or developers working in reverse (often with an electrical bias) removal of the toner maybe assisted with a vacuum, and solid lubricant can be incorporated in the toner to assist transfer and cleaning. [Pg.304]
