TMS, tetramethylsilan

The resonance is characteristic of an atom s chemical environment given as 5, in ppm, the shift relative to a reference compound for H-NMR, TMS (tetramethylsilane).

Chemical shift is a measure of a peak s position relative to the peak of a standard substance (e.g., TMS, tetramethylsilane), which is assigned a chemical shift value of 0.0. 

The 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectra of sulfacetamide in D2O were determined at 400 MHz and 75.4 MHz respectively on a Bruker AM-300 NMR spectrometer using TMS (tetramethylsilane) as reference standard and are shown in Figure 3-4. The spectral assignments are listed in Table III.
