Titrations Involving Silver Ion

We now introduce two widely used indicator methods for titrations involving Ag, which are called argentometric titrations. The methods are [Pg.136]

Volhard titration formation of a soluble, colored complex at the end point [Pg.136]

Fajans titration adsorption of a colored indicator on the precipitate at the end point [Pg.136]

Because the Volhard method is a titration of Ag , it can be adapted for the determination of any anion that forms an insoluble silver salt. [Pg.136]

The Volhard procedure ends with a back titration of Ag in 0.5-1.5 M HNO3. To determine CF, the unknown CF is precipitated by a known excess of standard AgNOs  [Pg.136]
