Tissue transplantation success rate

Researchers developed techniques to spht a single hver from a cadaver and implant it into two recipients, thus increasing the supply of tissue. This measure originated as a means to reduce the sizes of transplant. The intent was to use the right lobe portion of a full-sized adult hver in a child and the left lobe in an adult. Perhaps the main reason for the tacit acceptance of the hemodialyzer stems from the fact that the human body contains two kidneys and can, usually, function satisfactorily with only one. This makes kidney donation and transplantation a more realistic operation than heart and other transplantations thus, kidney transplantations have been performed on a fairly common basis since the initial transplant in 1954. With the aid of careful tissue matching, preferably with a relative, and some immunosuppressant drugs, this transplantation operation has a high (85+%) success rate. In practice, however, the donor organs are not nearly as available as the demand, and 100,000+ people use the hemodialyzer routinely until a transplant becomes possible. In many cases, the hemodialyzer is used for decades, and secondary disorders, such as anemia, hemolysis, hypertension, and psychiatric problems, sometimes develop. 

On a different topic, there is increasing pressure to improve the success rate of organ transplantation. As an example of the contribution that calorimetric measurements can make to this field, attention is drawn to a study on ischaemic liver. Tissue injury to liver due to hypoxia or ischaemia during surgery and transplantation is a serious problem and it is difficult to predict recovery from it. An initial crop of 103 adult Macrocystis toxx local beds was transplanted to the structure during November-December 1978. Our intention was to harvest and weigh upper portions of the plants at appropriate intervals to determine yields. We measured growth rates and nutrient concentrations within the tissues and in the water. We also followed reproductive success on solid substrates of the structure, general health and appearance of the test plants, and the development of an associated community, as well as other related parameters (see Figure IV). The experiment was scheduled to last for two years however, all transplants had been destroyed by the end of two months, primarily due to lack of protection from current.
