Thylakoid inside-out vesicle

The purpose of this presentation is (1) to compare the transmembrane distribution of galactolipids in intact thylakoids and in thylakoid inside-out vesicles from spinach (2) to explore the possible role of certain membrane proteins in inducing and/or maintaining the asymmetric distribution of acyl lipids to this aim, prothylakoids and thylakoids from oat were used (3) finally, to define more exactly the localization, in the outer and inner monolayers, of those phospholipid populations which are necessary for electron flow activity. [Pg.172]

TABLE 1. Distribution of galactolipids in the tvo monolayers of thylakoid inside-out vesicles and intact thylakoids from spinach. Results are expressed in mol X for each class of lipids. [Pg.173]

P.A. Siegenthaler, J. Sutter and A. Rawyler (1988) The transmembrane distribution of galactolipids in spinach thylakoid inside-out vesicles is opposite to that found in intact thylakoids. FEBS Lett. 2, 94-98. [Pg.180]
