Thought forms

The visualizations of the various practices may seem needlessly complex to the uninstructed. However, the various details are essentially to assure that the normally free-ranging consciousness remains engaged within the psychic region under focus for regeneration. The details of the visualizations are in fact safety nets. Consciousness can flicker between two objects, literally, at the speed of thought. The mental constructions, the thought-forms, we build in our practices are like the reins of a chariot drawn by powerful horses. The reins control, direct, and harness the motive power. 

The old Qabalists called a thought-created form that was built specifically as a vehicle for consciousness a Golem. Such a mental construction is not the same as the more usual magical thought-forms, which are ensouled with artificial or elemental intelligences. In a golem, we are dealing exclusively with the exteriorized subtle vehicle of the practitioner, which, at the conclusion of a session, is then re-absorbed back into a condition of subconscious latency. 

Lesser adepts build thought-forms of what is needful in the Yet-ziratic level—the Magical Agent, as the astral plane is called. These forms then acquire vitality and manifest through normal channels,... 

The reabsorption of the castle at the end of each practice withdraws the thought-form from objective view, because the withdrawal causes the thought-form to enter back into a condition of subjective latency. This does not mean at all that the golem is lost or destroyed, but rather withdrawn, as a human being would be in sleep and dreaming. 

Inner-plane temples within the Upper Worlds, since they are not confined by the laws which govern matter in the three-dimensional world, are capable of being much larger on the inside than on the outside (like the tardis in the BBC television series, Dr. Who). They can also contain more chambers than any edifice built in physical matter. The only restrictions they appear to have are those limitations imposed by the mind of the human visitor. The same may be true—if we will it to be so—of thought-built edifices constructed by practitioners of the Art. And since the castle golem is to become a true reflection of the macrocosm—so that the individualized microcosm may be refashioned in its likeness—our eidolon, or thought-form, will contain additional chambers we have not yet entered. 

Coulson described the first ten years of quantum chemists work on the electron valence bond (roughly 19281938) as work spent "escaping from the thought-forms of the physicist [my emphasis], so that the chemical notions of directional bonding and localization could be developed."45 Heisenberg earlier claimed that the Heitler-London treatment of the hydrogen molecule was not a characteristically physical approach, in contrast to Hund s more "general"... 

When a sudden wave of some emotion sweeps over a man, for example, his astral body is thrown into violent agitation, and its original colors are, for the time, almost obscured by the flush of vibration of that particular emotion.. .. The radiating vibration, therefore, will be a complex one, and the resultant thought-form will show several colors instead of only one. ... 

Most yellow thought-forms are clearly outlined, and a vague cloud of this color is comparatively rare. It indicates intellectual pleasure— appreciation of the result of ingenuity, or the delight felt in clever workmanship. Such pleasure as the ordinary man [or woman] derives from the contemplation of a picture usually depends chiefly upon the emotions of admiration, affection, or pity, which it arouses within him [or her], or sometimes, if it portrays a scene with which he [or she] is familiar, its charm consists in its power to awaken the memory of past joys.

The reality experienced in the Chonyid state is, as the last section of the corresponding Bardo teaches, the reality of thought. The "thought-forms" appear as realities, fantasy takes on real form, and the terrifying dream evoked by karma and played out by the unconscious "dominants" begins. 

The teaching concerning the hell-visions is the same as before recognize them to be your own thought-forms, relax, float downstream. The INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE WRATHFUL VISIONS may be read. If, after this, recognition is still impossible and liberation is not obtained, then the voyager will descend into the Third Bardo, the Period of Re-Entry. 

It is sufficient for you to know that these apparitions are your own thought-forms. ...

Meditate, without any thought-forming, upon the Void Clear Light. This is a very profound art. 

The genesis and development of quantum chemistry as an autonomous subdiscipline owed much to those scientists who were able to realize that what had started as an extra bit of physics was going to become a central part of chemistry". Those that manage to escape successfully from the thought forms of the physicist [17] by implicitly or explicitly addressing issues such as the role of theory in chemistry, and the methodological status of empirical observations helped to create... 

Coulson felt that it would be a great disaster if quantum chemistry were limited to either the very deep or the shallow level. And certainly it would be a serious loss if it did not maintain a close link with experiment and with conventional thought forms of chemistry. He felt strongly that there was a danger that group I people will forget that chemistry is associated with the real world. He ended in a pessimistic mood. 

I am far from thinking that i am proposing a new theory here on the contrary, I beiieve that i have expressed views to which very many chemists subscribe. I must even remark that a simiiar thought formed the basis of the viewpoint and formulas of Couper, whose too absolute and exclusive conclusions I contested at the time but this thought was neither clearly enough perceived nor expressed by that chemist. My remarks today were only intended to suggest that it is time to apply the idea of atomicity and of chemical structure in every case, and entirely free from the type...
