Third degree atrioventricular

Amiodarone is contraindicated in patients with sick sinus syndrome and may cause severe bradycardia and second-and third-degree atrioventricular block. Amiodarone crosses the placenta and will affect the fetus, as evidenced by bradycardia and thyroid abnormalities. The drug is secreted in breast milk. 

Contraindications Sinus bradycardia, second- or third-degree atrioventricular (AV) block, cardiogenic shock, overt heart failure, hypersensitivitytobetaxolol, levobetaxolol, or any component of levobetaxolol formulations... 

Rhabdomyolysis was associated with third-degree atrioventricular block in a patient taking atorvastatin with esomeprazole and clarithromycin. 

In four out of nine patients with heart transplants second-degree or third-degree atrioventricular block occurred during the administration of adenosine 140 micrograms/kg/ minute over 6 minutes (30). In two patients the infusion had to be interrupted because of severe discomfort and chest pain. 

Cardiac dysrhythmias induced by anticonvulsants are rare and occur mainly in patients other than those known to be at high risk of sudden death (14). Phenytoin has been rarely associated with bradydysrhythmias, almost exclusively after intravenous dosing, and some of these have been fatal. Hypotension can also complicate intravenous phenytoin. Carbamazepine can depress cardiac conduction, mostly in elderly or otherwise predisposed patients. Third-degree atrioventricular block occurred in one patient with pre-existing right bnndle branch block treated with topiramate, but a cause-and-effect relation was uncertain (SEDA-21, 76). 

A 59-year-old man developed third-degree atrioventricular block after using an extract of Nerium oleander transdermally to treat psoriasis (24). A fatality due to drinking a herbal tea prepared from N. oleander leaves, erroneously believed to be eucalyptus leaves, has been reported (25). 

Third-degree atrioventricular conduction defects have been reported in two patients with rheumatoid arthritis after prolonged administration of chloroquine (2,3)-Intravenous administration can result in dysrhythmias and cardiac arrest the speed of administration is relevant, but also the concentration reached deaths have been recorded with blood concentrations of 1 pg/ml concentrations after a 300 mg dose are usually 50-100 pg/ml (SEDA-13, 803).

It is unclear whether topiramate played any role in rare cardiovascular events. These included symptoms of Raynaud s phenomenon in three patients, and third-degree atrioventricular block requiring emergency cardiac pacemaker implantation in one patient with preexisting right bundle branch block (SEDA-21, 76).

A. The presence of nodal or ventricular rhythms in the setting of third-degree atrioventricular or intraventricular block. These are usually reflex escape rhythms that may provide lifesaving cardiac output, and abolishing them may result in asystole. 

Suspected lily-of-the-valley poisoning, with third degree atrioventricular block, bradycardia, vomiting, and lethargy, was reported in a dog that had been seen chewing on lily-of-the-valley leaves (Atkinson et al. 2008).

Cardiovascular Cardiac toxicity due to chronic chloroquine use includes conduction disorders, congestive heart failure, prolongation of the QT interval, myocardial hypertrophy, and restrictive cardiomyopathy. Third degree atrioventricular block and sudden cardiac arrest due to ventricular fibrillation caused by chloroquine, unusual reactions, have been reported [6" ]. 

Commonly occurs with third-degree atrioventricular block.
