Other variants that are used in lubricating oils are sulfurized olefin compositions (69). An example for poly(isobutyl-l,2-dithiol-e-4-cyclopentene-3-thione) compounds is shown in Figure 6.10. 

A photochemical path to l,3-dithiole-2-thione has been reported (61E566). Photolysis of 1,2,3-thiadiazole in carbon disulfide produces an intermediate C2H2S fragment which is. trapped by carbon disulfide to give the l,3-dithiole-2-thione (21). A similar, albeit thermal, reaction of the 1,2,3-thiadiazole derivatives (339) in the presence of carbon disulfide yields at 215 °C the l,3-dithiole-2-thione compounds (340) (76JOC730). 

The compounds a-4-dimethylbenzyl camphorate diethanolamine, magnesium bis (4-methoxy-y-oxo-l-naphthalenebutyrate), and 5-(p-methoxyphenyl)-l,2-dithiol-3(3H)-thione, which were supposed to be cholaneretics, did not increase the secretion of natural bile. The infrared spectra indicated that the constituion of the bile components was different after administration of each of these choleretics. The common feature of each was the near disappearance of bands of sodium taurocholate (mentioned earlier). No change in the absorption of lecithin (1738 cm ) was caused by a-4-dimethylbenzyl camphorate diethanolamine, but this band disappeared in the bile after administration of the magnesium and thione compounds above. Some bands not observed in natural bile appeared instead, notably near 1420 and 800cm, ... 

Perhydropyrrolo[l,2-a]pyrazine-l-thione (99) is formed chemoselectively on thionation of the dione with LR, whereas the 1,4-dithione (100) is obtained from the corresponding 4-thione. Compound (101) yields the deep red colored dithione (102), which represents a dithiooxamide exhibiting the unusual s-cJs configuration. ... 

The synthetic route to the dmise ligand is straightforward but sometimes it could not be reproduced [52,55]. Particular difficulty was found in separating the desired selone from the unreacted thione compound.
