Thermoset plastics disadvantages

A major disadvantage of granulation on completion of th e manufacturing process is th e need to transfer a solid material to a plastic or liquid state, whereas in production of thermosetting plastics such a state is passed in homogenization, that is, the granulating operation substantially complicates the entire production process. Such a situation may be justified only if a portion of the material to be supplied to the user is to be granulated (but not the entire lot). [Pg.144]

Plasticized polyvinyl butyral (PVB) Is easy to process because It Is thermoplastic rather than thermosetting, but has the disadvantage of containing plasticizer (see below). [Pg.374]
