Thermal spraying benefits

In the thermal spraying industry, a processing benefit of applying zinc first and then aluminum is that the quality of blasting pretreatment required for zinc spraying is less critical than for aluminum, especially when gas pistols are used. Such duplex coatings have been used on Royal Navy ships decks, for example, and also in hot areas, such as near coke ovens, where aluminum helps to reflect heat. [Pg.56]

Inframat Corporation (2003a) had demonstrated that WC/Co-Ni nanocoating could be obtained via electrocodeposition of WC/Co nanoparticles from a nickel sulfamate colloidal solution. Properties of this WC/Co-Ni nanocoating were compared with conventional electroplated hard chrominm and thermal sprayed WC/Co. Benefits derived from this nanocoating inclnde high hardness and wear resistance, low coefficient of friction, and a smooth deposited snrface. A US... [Pg.109]

As noted above, any direct dryer, in principle, can be converted to superheated steam operation (e.g., flash, fluid bed, spray, impinging jet, conveyor dryers, etc.). Thermal efficiencies can be improved and the unit size reduced by supplying a part of the heat indirectly (e.g., by conduction or radiation). Note that the inversion temperature is lowered in the presence of indirect heat supply, which is a further benefit. For example, in the presence of appropriate radiant heating, the inversion temperatnre dropped from 250 C to ITO C for a specific case reported in the literature. [Pg.422]
