The sorting process

When electrical conductivity is used as the basis of the sorting process, contact of the particles is made by a brush type of electrode to generate the signal for analysis. Materials having a resistance difference of 2000 kn can be readily separated from material of 100 kH resistance. 

We must judge the possible routes as to how reasonable they are to the sources, sinks, and the media. The AdN2 is not appropriate for acidic media because it produces a highly basic anion, pA abH 44. Available markets for used apparel is dynamic. For example, animal fibers have always commanded higher prices and, more recently, bras and some categories of underwear are earning extra value in the marketplace. Clothing that is of collectible nature, shirts, and revived trends also bring higher value, but these items are fewer in volume and require more expertise in the sorting process.

Separation processes utilize these differences in properties directly, in the sorting processes the relevant property is measured and decision is made in which stream to place a given component of the waste. Sorting can be done manually or automatically. 

Specular reflectance spectroscopy in mid-IR allows identification of non-coated technical thermoplastics without sample preparation in just a few seconds. First derivative spectra permit to distinguish various filler types (talcum, chalk or barium sulfate) in PR Identification of fiame retardants, which is important for the sorting process of used computer displays or TV sets, is very complex in view of the wide variety of FRs. It is possible, however, to detect specific FRs in certain polymers by mid-IR reflectance techniques, for example polybromi-nated diphenylethers (PBDE) in ABS. This technique probably has limited applicability only.
