The Resistance of Aluminium in Contact with Foodstuffs

At room temperature, aluminium has good resistance to diluted or highly diluted organic acids, which produces more or less substantial pickling, depending on the nature of the acid (see Table G.5.2 [17]). 

It is not possible to draft an exhaustive list for the resistance of aluminium in contact with foodstuffs. This has been done in great detail in several specialised publications [18-21]. 

In general, neither the appearance nor the taste of natural or processed foods are altered in contact with aluminium, with the exception of wine, liquors or alcohols [22, 23]. Aluminium may suffer pitting corrosion in these media.
