The Higher Level SSR functions

The SSR functions that are described in subsequent sections are the highest level functions of the SSR. They accomplish their goals by coordinating and choreographing the lower level functions described in the previous sections. 

The enclosure growth function is responsible for managing the construction, growth, and shape change of the SSR enclosure as well as the coordinated addition of input and output gateways on the enclosure during the cloning and division phases of the SSR
