Tests for flameproof enclosures

Remembering the basic principles of flameproof enclosures, two main characteristics of such enclosures shall be proved by type testing they shall withstand the internal overpressure caused by the ignition of a combustible gas-air mixture inside, and they shall prevent flame transmission to the environmental hazardous atmosphere. So, such a test cycle is divided into three parts  [Pg.433]

The internal overpressure of an ignited combustible mixture depends on  [Pg.433]

Detachable gaskets shall be fitted to the enclosure under test [Pg.435]

In cases where pressure piling (the pressure rise time is shorter than 5 ms, or the peak pressure values obtained deviate from one to another by a factor 3=1.5) occurs during the tests, the number of tests shall be at least five (with each gas) [Pg.435]

In case of pressure piling, for IIB enclosures an additional test sequence is required  [Pg.435]
