Tensile strength selected fiber-reinforcement

The primary engineering properties of a composite are derived predominantly from the mechanical and physical properties of the discontinuous phase. Fibers in a fiber composite material serve to reinforce the material, whereas the matrix acts as an adhesive binder, with considerably lower tensile strength and greater amount of elasticity. The required quality of the fiber material depends on the desired stiffness and strength behavior of the composite. Further selection criteria for the determination of the appropriate reinforcement fibers are... [Pg.294]

Tensile strength and deformation parameters of PA 6 and PET obtained by ISO and ASTM methods are generally compatible both can be used for the design of injection molded, non-reinforced and glass fiber reinforced parts and the material pre-selection. [Pg.68]
