Temperature gauges

Verifying temperature is the second most important aspect of any compressor operation. As with pressure, the basic form of measurement is a simple temperature gauge. The construction of the gauges is quite varied, ranging from a bimetallic device to the filled systems. When transmis sion is involved, the sensor becomes quite simple, taking the form v)l a thermocouple or a resistance temperature detector (RTD). The monitor does the translation from the native signal to a temperature readout ()r signal proportional to temperature. [Pg.343]

The sensing elements of temperature gauges shall be in the flowing liquid. [Pg.46]

Temperature gauges shall be furnished with separable threaded solid bar thermowells at least NFS iu diameter aud shall be of austeuitic staiuless steel or auother material more compatible with the liquid. [Pg.47]

An oil pressure gauge to indicate lubricating oil pressure and a temperature gauge for cooling water temperature indication. [Pg.179]

Temperature and pressure gauges mounted directly on the gearbox shall be in accordance with ISO 10438 except that the diameter of the gauges shall be 50 mm (2,0 in). If specified, separable threaded solid bar thermowells shall b e supplied for temperature gauges. [Pg.87]

You must be very careful to recognize and understand the units of a gauge that appear in a test question. For instance, a temperature gauge (commonly called a thermometer) could use either degrees Fahrenheit or degrees Celsius. Mistakes on units can cause major problems, so be careful The table on page 200 shows some common types of gauges, what they measure, and the kind of units they use. [Pg.209]

Pressure and temperature gauge (dial type) can be read from the same elevation of the gauge to prevent paradox error. [Pg.254]

Basically, a freeze-dryer consists of a port for inserting the product, a drying chamber, a vacuum pump, a condenser, and vacuum and temperature gauges and controls. [Pg.23]

As the plane approaches the stratosphere, the pilot s outside air temperature gauge may read as low as — 55°C (— 67°F). The sky is clear blue because most of the water vapor has been condensed and removed as precipitation far below. Rarely, a massive thunderstorm in the distance may be observed thunderstorms (along with volcanic eruptions) are one of the few natural agents capable of carrying materials by vertical advection (convection) into the stratosphere. [Pg.284]
