All of the reactions in acidic and basic solutions are generally controlled by diffusion of the reactant through the boundry layer existing on the exposed surfaces of the aggregate or bond phase. Elevated temperatures usually increase the reaction rate. Thus, elevated temperatures and high local fluid velocities tend to increase the corrosion rate of silicon carbides as the corrosion products are swept away from the active surface sites. 

Figures demonstrated an overall increase in survival as reflected from the extension of median OS-2 to 13.4 months compared to 6.2 months in a previous study focused on radiotherapy and chemotherapy in GBM patients. Reported side effects (tachycardia, headaches, overall/local body temperature elevation, etc.) were not severe, indicating that this technique is well tolerated and can be safely applied to recurrent GBM patients. It is worth mentioning that there was no indication of iron being released from the intratumoral deposits or being metabolized. 

Mineral scales typically result from the effects of localized concentration of salts within the watersides of a boiler and the inverse solubility of many such salts at elevated temperatures. Scales often are hard, dense, and difficult to remove. They can be either crystalline or amorphous (lacking any characteristic crystalline shape).
