Taylor Series and Remainder

The estimate of a function f x) at a distance h from the reference point x = xq is given by the n-th order Taylor series or expansion [Pg.270]

For a fractional value of h, the remainder becomes negligible as n is increased. For sufficiently large n or small h, the remainder is therefore discarded. It is of course assumed that the function is differentiable at least n times. [Pg.270]
