Robert Fryar, a bookseller at Bath who published limited editions of books on occultism, was importing Tarot cards from France during the 1880s. It is possible that Gardner had acquired a pack from this source. 

This experience happened in a circle of fourteen people, guided by a shaman. She is waiy of Bond s charms and is only convinced that they are destined to become lovers because she read it in her tarot cards. When she pulls the tarot card to find out her destiny with Bond, she is shocked to see the Lovers card. Since she is a believer in the fortune that the Tarot cards foretell, she cannot but submit to the signs, knowing full... 

Solitaire starts out all businesslike, using her mad tarot card skillz to track the freshly minted Bond, Roger Moore, on a flight to New York for her boss. Dr. Kananga. But trouble starts brewing for her when she later reads Bond s tarot cards at the Fillet of Soul restaurant in Harlem.
