Taking over the Registry Number

When looking for a chemical compound in the CA file, very often the first step will be a Registry File search (Sects. 7.1 and 7.2). There are two possible ways of using the search results found in the Registry File. You can either take over the Registry Numbers found, or all the names cited in the document. [Pg.184]

When you change databases during an STN session, the search steps will be numbered continuously. Thus it is possible to make use of formerly processed search steps in the current database. [Pg.184]

In the CA database, only the command and the Registry File search step number must be entered in order to continue the query in the CA File with the Registry Numbers found in the Registry File. This means that the Registry File answer is used as a search step in the CA database (Fig. 119). [Pg.184]

In addition to the current Registry Number the Deleted Registry Numbers are also transmitted. They should not be left aside in the query because the citations are not changed retroactively (Sect. 4.1). During a single search, 30,000 Registry Numbers may be transferred fi om the Registry File on to the CA File. [Pg.184]
