TIFF (tagged image file format) time-sharing (always hyphenated)... [Pg.167]

Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) is applied most frequently as the standard file format for this purpose because it saves embedded objects in the image. Objects are self-contained and identifiable components of the image, each with their own characteristics and attributes. They are applied individually to get information about the pictured or sketched outside world for the creation of models from TIFF images. The third dimension of shape can be controlled by settings such as the height of protrusions and depth of depressions. [Pg.279]

TIFF. The Tagged Image File Format was an early standard for the exchange of compound documents. It is an extendable standard and the fact that many of its supporters have chosen to do so has made document interchange at best difficult or incomplete, or at worst, effectively impossible. TIFF has not been a success as a standard to the same extent as has PostScript. [Pg.26]

Users with appropriate system privileges must be able to view documents. Typically, documents to be viewed in an EDMS are presented as read-only files, either in the authoring application or a standard immutable file format such as TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) or Adobe s portable document format (PDF). By virtue of its flexibility and platform-independence, PDF has become the storage standard in contemporary electronic document management systems. Most systems will automatically create PDF files and provide the PDF rendition in response to a user view request. [Pg.2556]
