Tabular Summary of Search Fields

The format FIDE is most advisable, because it gives all the names. Remember that 310 substances have more than 50 names (as of July 1993), e.g. polyethylene has more than 2600 trade names. Most of these substances are important commercial products. 

ALL all dictionary and bibliographic fields, up to 50 chemical names and 10 CA references with their abstract FIDE all dictionary fields, all chemical names HIT all fields, containing the hit terms 

IDE all dictionary fields except ring data, up to 50 chemical names REG Registry Number, Deleted RN, Replacing RN, Preferred RN, Alternate RN SCAN CA Index Name, length of sequence (in biosequences), molecular formulae, substance class, structure (in random order of documents)
