2 Synthesis OF Glycosides from Anomeric Thio Derivatives 

Several classes of anomeric thio derivatives are used as glycosyl donors an overview of the major classes is given in the following section. 

Thioglycosides are readUy prepared using a variety of methods, but mostly by nucleophilic substi-mtions at the anomeric center. They are prepared most commonly from anomeric l,2-franj -acetates
