Symmetry in Patterns, Snow Flakes, and Gems

Man made patterns to paint the walls and floors and even clothes are examples of symmetry of various kinds  [Pg.89]

Some patterns which apparently look like a pattern but bear no geometric symmetry, yet their looks are pleasant (Figs. 9.8-9.10). Sometimes an asymmetry can also be as beautiful as that one having the conventional symmetry. [Pg.89]

While introducing Crystal, it has been stated earlier that the word has been derived from Greek word meaning ice or frozen water. [Pg.89]

In fact a snow flake is a tiny crystal of frozen water and is of various beautiful shapes each having sixfold of rotation symmetry and also a mirror plane of S3Tnmetry. [Pg.89]
