1 Supply chain management communicates directly with the Davids 

According to the philosophy we have described, supply chain management (SCM) communicates directly with the process drivers (Fig. 74). This is naturally a much shorter and efficient method than the long route back and forth among the hiera r-chies. 

The route through the hierarchies would not only cost unnecessary time, but would also distort the messages, much like the children s game of post office, superimposing them with the political interests for the optimization of organizational units. 

We know of no rational argument against direct communication between the SCM and rank-and-file employees. 

Using the direct path of communication the following work can be done during a day s operations
