Ambient air monitoring in the vicinity of a Superfund clean-up site detected 2,3,7,8-TCDD levels on the order of 1 pg/m3 (0.08 ppq) (Fairless et al. 1987). The surface and subsurface soils at the site were tested and found to contain 2,3,7,8-TCDD at concentrations above 1 ppb at most locations within the site.
