Sulphide Catalysts Characterization and Reactions Including Hydrodesulphurization [Pg.175]

2 Reaction of Hydrogen with Sulphur and Sulphides and the Catalytic Decomposition of Hydrogen Sulphide [Pg.175]

Reaction of hydrogen with gaseous sulphur (533 K) over reduced WS2 was first order in hydrogen and zero order in sulphur. Vacancies at the surface of the reduced catalyst were filled by sulphur from the interior in the time between reduction and reoxidation. For a steady state catalyst the rate of reduction and re oxidation of the catalyst was close to the rate of the catalysed reaction of hydrogen with sulphur. The reaction was stepwise. Gaseous sulphur was converted to sulphide at vacant sites reaction of hydrogen with surface sulphide gave H2S. [Pg.175]
