Sulfates, anionic linkers

The macrocyclic Schiff base L37 contains an hexyl linker between the two amine groups. In anion transport experiments, the corresponding metal complexes of L37 are found to successfully extract sulfate anion from aqueous solution to organic solvents. In the case of the copper complex of receptor L37, it was found that more than... [Pg.816]

Linkers with sulfonate fimctional groups are another class of O-donor species that have been successfid in polymerizing Ln ions into extended architecmres. This is not surprising considering the similar geometry between a sulfate (S04 ) anion and the fimctional groups on sulfonate linkers. Further, the S04 anion has been utilized extensively as a complex anion for the assembly of templated materials and extended, noncoordination polymeric materials (44). [Pg.183]
