Analysis of only the simplest sugar mixtures is generally required for pharmaceutical preparations and the subject will be discussed briefly and yet in sufficient detail for undertaking the estimation of simple sugars or mixtures of sucrose, invert sugar and glucose or lactose. [Pg.602]

It has been generally assumed diat the visible increase in liver lipid is mainly glyceride. This assumption, ccnnbined with die fact diat, until recendy, cholesterol and phospholipids were much easier to estimate, has led to a paucity of reports on liver glycerides as such, and especially in relation to dietary carbohydrates. Morton and Homer (1961) reported that male rats on a 190-day diet containing 73% sucrose had about three times as much liver glyceride as controls whereas the females on the sucrose diet showed no increase in liver glycerides.
