Subject efficient engine oils

The DEHZ basestock was selected as an efficient compromise for desired properties in a partial synthetic oil. An engine oil was formulated using 200 neutral oil, 100 neutral oil, polymethylmethacrylate viscosity index improver, an additive package, and 15% DEHZ. See Table VII under Current 5W-30. This 5W-30 formulation was then subjected to the various tests described in Table VI for qualification as an SF engine oil. The results are presented in Table VIII. 

As a rule, however, the final formulation of products must be subjected to time-consuming practical tests. This is particularly true for motor oils, where only the practical test in the engine can assess, for instance, high temperature efficiency of dithiophosphates and the frequently antagonistic effects of dispersants and oxidation inhibitors in a given additive combination (Klamann, 1984 Mortier and Orszulik, 1997). 

The oil, gas and petrochemical industries depend for safe and efficient operation on their electrical supply and equipment. There have been huge advances in electrical engineering in the last 50 years and thus a need for a comprehensive book on a very sophisticated and complex subject. 

The drastic increase in energy cost following the Oil Embargo of 1973, however, and its impact on the product cost of the chemical and petroleum industries, made the subject of efficient energy utilization a major concern of chemical engineers as well.
