Sub-wavelength metallic apertures

The purpose of this chapter is to overview some of the key results in fluorescence emission from sub-wavelength metal apertures, both single apertures and in array arrangements. While a comprehensive theory is currently lacking, sufficient understanding can be obtained from computational models to qualitatively describe experimental results.
