Structure of Nanofibers

Nanofiber of biodegradable plastics such as P(3HB) and its copolymers is an attractive material for medical applications. We succeeded in obtaining weU-organized nanofibers by an eletrospinning technique from dilute polymer solution. The fiber morphology and the crystalline structure of nanofibers are also reported in this chapter. In the last section, enzymatic and in vivo degradation of both monofilaments and nanofibers are presented. [Pg.260]

The structure of nanofibers of polyaniline has been determined by solid-state and NMR experiments. Solid-state N and CP MAS NMR results suggest that the emeraldine base form of the nanofibers exists mainly as an alternating copolymer of reduced and oxidized repeat units. [Pg.274]

Single nanofibers produced by electrospinning can be expected to display quite unusual mechanical properties. The intrinsic structure of nanofibers as controlled by the freezing-in, crystalhzation, and elongational processes was already discussed above. Strong orientations of both chain molecules and... [Pg.141]
