Stress States in Component Parts

For most thermoplastic materials, the time to occurrence of stress cracking is drastically reduced if they are in contact with media in addition to stress loads this case is also called media supported stress cracking or ESC (= Environmental Stress Cracking). It is indicative that in many cases the plastics are chemically resistant to the media in their stress-free state. [Pg.211]

The stresses occurring in plastics parts include residual stress induced during the cooling phase, mechanical operative stresses, or assembly stresses during application of the plastics part. [Pg.211]

Methanol-acetic acid 3 1, methanol-ethyl acetate 3 1, toluene/n-propanol 1 3 [Pg.212]

Olive oil-oleic acid 1 1, isopropanol Methyl ethyl ketone-methanol 7 3 [Pg.212]
