Stop words

Step 6. Remove white spaces and stop words from corpus data... [Pg.433]

Many hosts exclude so-called stop words from the index, such as articles and prepositions. They would extend the index excessively. [Pg.136]

The string search, i.e. a search character-by-character is of particular value to the searcher, because it allows one to search for stop-words as well. The command demands intense operations from the host, thus it can only be entered when referring to a preceding search step with not too many matches. [Pg.278]

Ema data can be quantitated to provide elemental concentrations, but several corrections are necessary to account for matrix effects adequately. One weU-known method for matrix correction is the 2af method (7,31). This approach is based on calculated corrections for major matrix-dependent effects which alter the intensity of x-rays observed at a particular energy after being emitted from the corresponding atoms. The 2af method corrects for differences between elements in electron stopping power and backscattering (the correction), self-absorption of x-rays by the matrix (the a correction), and the excitation of x-rays from one element by x-rays emitted from a different element, or in other words, secondary fluorescence (the f correction). [Pg.285]

Titles of periodicals are defined as in the Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index (CASSI), except that full stops have been omitted after each abbreviated word. Abbreviations of words in the texts of Chapters 4, 5 and 6 are those in common use and are self evident, e.g. distn, filtd, cone and vac are used for distillation, filtered, concentrated and vacuum. [Pg.30]

In recent years there has been a greater appreciation of the word use." As society and engineers have become more aware of the systems or process aspects of nature, it has become clear that the use of natural resources must stop short of abuse. [Pg.368]

The machine accepts all and only input words which lead it from initial state [START] with empty pushdown store to accepting state [STOP] with empty pushdown store. [Pg.307]

I know," Sprecher said. "They ask for a theory, and we give them one that could mean something. But, mark my words, whether they say it or not, they will feel this way If a trial couldn t stop the Communists in Czechoslovakia today, what good is it to harp about yesterday And that is precisely what all good Communists would like them to think."... [Pg.125]
