Steady tearing

I felt near to tears, but they would not help me, or him. I steadied myself. Sire, I would not trouble you for the world if you are sad or weary. But I think you ought not to be alone tonight, and if you wish, I can bear you company. There is no need of more. ... [Pg.280]

Lightly beaten softwood pulps show an initial inerease in tear strength but as the fibres become better bonded they show a steady deeline in tear strength. [Pg.522]

Models of the steady-state behavior of a chemical plant consist of a system of algebraic equations that can be solved by well-established algebraic numerical methods. These can be implemented on computer clusters, which can achieve supercomputing execution times. Recycle streams require the use of tear variables... [Pg.1957]

Vitamin K We need a steady supply of vitamin K because the body uses it up rapidly. Its major and essential role is in regulation of blood clotting, which goes on to repair not only cut skin but also small tears in blood vessels (on a daily basis). Because overdoses cause excessive blood clotting and danger of brain damage, vitamin K is the only vitamin for which a prescription is needed for supplements containing the vitamin alone. [Pg.410]

Dehydration is another important issue. Dehydration can cause mechanical stress in the membrane that leads to failures (tearing and cracking), and it can also accelerate the chemical degradation of PEMs (Endoh, 2004). RH cycling (rather than steady-state operation) can further accelerate membrane degradation. Severe dehydration will cause irreversible membrane degradation (delamination, pinholes) within about 100 s (Canut, 2006). [Pg.299]

I. Displacement-Traction Relationships. Displacement-traction relationships, in terms of Fourier transformed quantities, on the surface of a half-space, under plane strain conditions, are derived in Sect. 7.1 and given by (7.1.15) for steady-state uniform motion. A similar relationship between the Fourier transform of the displacement and tearing stress is given by (7.1.23) for tearing mode fracture, along the line of the crack. These have the same form as the equivalent elastic relations, with moduli replaced by complex moduli, as required by the Classical Correspondence Principle. [Pg.216]

G.2 In this exercise, you will evaluate the individual units at the nominal steady state for purposes of understanding how the plant would operate without recycle. Use Simulink to simulate the full differential equation model given in Table G.l. Then, for purposes of this problem only, tear the recycle stream to the reactor—that is, disconnect the distillate line and replace it with a constant stream to the reactor that is set at the recycle stream s nominal conditions of flow rate and concentration. [Pg.549]
