Static spray

A less common version of this process is friction static spray, where the electrostatic charge is produced by friction between powder particles and the spray gnn itself.

The internal coating is applied last by airless spray from static spray guns with an 80 millisecond burst of spray onto the inside of the spinning can. The can is then stoved, typically at 190-200°C for 60 seconds to 2 minutes peak metal temperature, upright in a flat bed conveyor oven. The tinplate can usually receives two coats of lacquer (wet on dry, i.e., each coat is stoved in turn), in contrast to the aluminium can which receives one coat of lacquer. 

However, the static-drop assumption is usually extremely conservative. For example, the high interfacial velocity in the spray from nozzles yields a high degree of internal mixing and much higher transfer.

In these processes, specialized equipment actually deposits a fine spray of molten metal on the plastic surface. The relatively thick, rough surface is generally used in non-appearance internal surfaces for electromagnetic and radio frequency shielding, as well as static electricity dissipation.

Static electricity is generated when mists or sprays pass through orifices. A charge may accumulate and discharge in a spark. If flammable vapors are present, a fire or explosion will occur. 

In entrainer sublimation, an entrainer gas is blown into the vaporisation chamber of a sublimer in order to increase the vapour flowrate to the condensing equipment, thereby increasing the yield. Air is the most commonly used entrainer, though superheated steam can be employed for substances such as anthracene that are relatively insoluble in water. If steam is used, the vapour may be cooled and condensed by direct contact with a spray of cold water. Although the recovery of the sublimate is efficient, the product is wet. The use of an entrainer gas in a sublimation process also provides the heat needed for sublimation and an efficient means of temperature control. If necessary, it may also provide dilution for the fractional condensation at the desublimation stage. Entrainer sublimation, whether by gas flow over a static bed of solid particles or through a fluidised bed, is ideally suited to continuous operation. 

Sprayed water will increase the relative air humidity therefore reducing the probability of static discharge igniting the cloud.
