State the objective clearly

An experiment is run to furnish data which can be used to solve a problem. The problem arises since it is an obstacle to achieving the objective. To clearly identify the problem, it is therefore necessary to express the objective as concrete as possible  

Example . If the goal is to determine experimental conditions which give a yield 85 %, the search is terminated when this yield is attained. If the goal is to achieve the highest possiltle yield, the study must include checks to make sure that there are not any other conditions which give an even higher yield. The experimental strategies are likely to be different in these cases. 

The author s experience as an experimental design consultant is that a common cause of failures is that the objectives of the project have not been clearly stated. 

run the experiment to fill in the gap and to obtain the necessary information. Hence, we can see that the role of an explorative experiment is to furnish new information. Thus, two essential questions that should be posed prior to any experiment are
