Tungstates are reduced by stannous chloride in strongly acid solutions to the blue lower tungsten oxides. This product, in contrast to "molybdenum blue" which forms under similar conditions, is sparingly soluble, and is stable in the presence of excess stannous chloride. [Pg.495]
