Staining with Thymol

Glossmann H, Neville DM Jr (1971) J Biol Chem 246 6339 2.4.4.2 Staining with Thymol [Pg.63]

The sensitivity of staining of oligosaccharides with thymol is similar to the PAS staining, but not so time-consuming. [Pg.63]

A 25% isopropanol (v/v), 10% acetic acid (v/v) in ddH20 Solutions/Reagents [Pg.63]

2% (w/v) thymol (2-isopropyl-5-methylphenol) in Soln. A C 80% (v/v) concentrated sulfuric acid, 20% (v/v) ethanol. [Pg.63]

The washing is repeated with Soln. A three times, if possible one time overnight, to remove SDS, Tris, and glycine completely. [Pg.63]

Glycoprotein Carbohydrate Analysis. Gels from PAGE were fixed with iso-propanol-acetic acid-water (25 10 65 v v v), stained with 0.2% thymol in the fixing solution, and washed two or three times with the same fixing solution. This was followed by staining with concentrated H2S04-ethanol (4 1 v/v) at 35°C for 2-3 h (72). [Pg.418]
