Polycarbonate can be readily injection molded. Polycarbonates typically require only a short injection molding cycle time, because the polymer flows into the mold easily and solidifies rapidly. We injection mold polycarbonate to produce a wide variety of commercial goods, including compact disks, jewel cases, aircraft windows, kitchen utensils, and clear refrigerators drawers. Polycarbonates are also found in a wide range of disposable medical devices, such as the flow locks on intravenous tubes and the hard, disposable components of dialysis machines. Impact resistant polycarbonate is used to manufacture sports and other safety helmets. Glass fiber reinforced polycarbonate is used in the housings for power tools.

Applications and uses automotive components, electrical equipment subjected to high temperatures, parabolic reflectors, solar energy systems, movement sensors, surfboards, golf cars, lawn and garden equipment, sporting goods, automotive exterior parts, safety helmets, and building materials. 

Since important properties of the poly(p-aramide)s are quite different from those of Nomex , most apphcations are also different. Characteristic are applications as bullet-proof body armor, cut-fast gloves, substitute of asbestos, and as reinforcing component in concrete. They are also used as fibers in high performance tires for airplanes and racing cars, or as laminates for the constmction of boat hulls. Furthermore, poly(p-aramide)s are used for the production of sports articles, drum heads, brake pads, turbo hoses, optical fiber cables, or electrical-mechanical cables. Their fabrics serve as hot air filters and in combination with Nomex for the production of protective clothing and helmets. The total production of polyaramides amounts in 2008 to 60,000 tons.
