To be useful to medicine, and to help you as a patient, all these omes have to be associated in some way with your clinical history and accessible to the physician. This brings us to the point of the next chapter the patient record in digital form, and augmented by the omes. But with all this power placed in the hands of the physicians, a vital ome is missing. This is the ethome that encapsulates all your wishes and rights, and is as important as any other data on record. Ethical, spiritual, religions, and cultural factors are considered in the subsequent chapter. 

Daoism, as the primary indigenous religion of China, is a highly esoteric tradition. Constructed of many different strands, over several thousand years, Daoism has a complex history of integrating various techniques of meditation, spirit communication, consciousness projection, bodily movements, medicine, and "internal alchemy" with a profound transpersonal philosophy of nature and a metaphysics of human relationships based on an ideal of spiritual transformation leading to immortality... 

Every time I ve gone to another level of leadership there has been a deepening of my spirituality. This study moved beyond religion to getting to know God. More than just going and hearing someone talk about a lesson, this is personal. 

The doctrine that Alchymy was religion only, and that its chemical references were all blinds, is equally untenable in the face of history, which shows that many of its most noted professors were men who had made important discoveries in the domain of common chemistry, and were in no way notable as teachers either of ethics or religion" ("Sapere Aude," The Science of Alchymy, Spiritual and Material (1893), pp. 3 and 4).
