In these solids there are two segregated stacks, the perylene stack (responsible for hole conduction) [3,6,7] and the M(mnt)2 stack (which, in the case of Pt and Pd, has localized magnetic moments S = 1/2 per unit). For the Pt and Pd cases, there is evidence of spin-exchange interactions between the itinerant spins on the perylene stacks and the localized spins on the M(mnt)2 stacks [6,9] there is also evidence for the existence of a spin-Peierls transition at Tmi [4, 6]. [Pg.205]
