Speed freak

Stimulants. The first stimulaut, amphetamiue, was introduced in the late 1800s. Over the next 50 years, amphetamines were used to treat a variety of couditious iucludiug depressiou. The stimulauts were easier to tolerate than the TCAs and somewhat safer. Unfortunately, they also produced euphoric effects leading to rampart speed freak abuse iu the 1960s. 

In the 1960s, public health authorities noted the first epidemic of intravenous drug use centered around the Haight-Asbury district of San Francisco, California. Individuals, soon to be known as speed freaks, had learned how to melt amphetamine down and inject the liquefied substance into their veins.

The natural uneasiness-nervousness that comes from Speed is intensified by fear of getting caught or busted.
