Species specific nanobiosensor

In the current report, we have structurally and functionally integrated a 27-nucleotide segment of swine mitochondrial (mt) cytb gene to a 3-nm diameter citrate-tannate-coated gold nanocrystal to fabricate a novel class of species specific nanobiosensor to determine pork adulteration in raw and highly processed mixed meat specimens. Verification and quantification of pork adulteration in meat and meat products are important for Halal authentication, allergy and cholesterol related health issues and enforcement of accurate food labeling to protect consumer interests [4, 6-7].
