The Glasgow group in recent years has successfully used 2 ata oxygen routinely for treating carbon monoxide poisoning in man (D18, D19, L8, L9, S18, S22). The clinical success of this therapy has been confirmed (S14). 

Douglas et al. (D18) have shown that 2 ata oxygen is more efficient than 1 ata oxygen plus 5% or 7% carbon dioxide in oxygen for eliminating carbon monoxide from the blood. The least efficient of the gases was 1 ata oxygen.
